October updates!

Comic Books and Christ figures!?!

Is this just a ploy to talk about Buffy the Vampire Slayer,

one of Mary Cat’s favorite s/heroes?

But it’s also a great conversation and I’d like your input!

Tuesday, October 9, 6:30-8:30 p.m., drop to the Center for Spiritual Life and reflect on the similarities and differences between “What would Buffy/what would Jesus do?”

Can’t make it Tuesday?  Join me at St. John’sin the Village for any/all of the next 3 Wednesday nights (October 10, 17 and 24) at 7:00 p.m. for further discussion on Buffy, X-Men and Batman the Dark Knight, among other comic heroes that come up in conversation.  (Yes!  Snacks are provided!)

What do their stories tell a us about our faith?  Incarnation? Resurrection?  What does our connection to Jesus’ story tell us about the kinds of mythologies we are drawn to in comic book heroes?  Who is your favorite s/hero?  Be a resource! Be a part of the conversation!  Be-come a Buffy fan!

Center for Spiritual Life: 238 Thompson Street, 4th floor

St. John’s in the Village: 224 Waverly Place, (Waverly and W. 11th Street (one block West of 7th Avenue)

What’s a Google+ Hangout?

Perhaps the next big tool for building community!

Are you willing to test out this technology with Mary Cat?

Visit this doodlepoll before Sunday, October 7, and let’s see if we can find a common time in the coming week to have an online meet-up.
