The Student Christian Movement is sponsoring the Northeast Regional Symposium on Eco-justice.

November 9-10, 2012 New York City at St. John’s in the Village and NYU

Are you ready to be a part of the progressive Christian presence on campus?  Are you looking for information? Training? Companionship?  Plan to attend this symposium with students, young adults and Senior Friends in the Student Christian Movement to gain knowledge, networking, and new energy for putting faith into action.

Speakers, small groups, training in building a movement and ecumenical worship will round out this brief but powerful gathering of students from a variety of colleges and universities.

Be a part of the movement – the revival of the Student Christian Movement – bringing a progressive Christian voice and presence to campuses across North America.

About the speaker:

Artist, educator, advocate and PCUSA mission co-worker. Based in Dumaguete City in the Philippines, Dessa Quesada-Palm lives her mission among the marginal sectors of Philippine society mentoring an youth group called Youth Advocates Through Theater Arts, and is actively involved with Gender Watch Against Violence and Exploitation, a group assisting survivors of gender-based violence. With a passion for theater as education for social change, she has worked with theater groups in New York City,Japan and the Philippines. She works with churches throughout the Philippines helping to develop theater in their congregations that tell the story of the transformative power of the Gospel. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics form the University of the Philippine sand a Masters Degree in International Relations from the New School for Social Research in New York City.
