Canterbury Downtown

2016-2017 Wrap up

Note from Chaplain Mary Cat

Canterbury Downtown is an incredible community that I have the privilege to serve.

Students gather here from around the country and around the world, wonderers, wanderers, new and old Episcopalians, new Christians, and friends who are companions on the journey!

So many open hearts and minds, curious questions, willingness to serve, and the desire to deeply know and be known by God.

Some of our community members come and go, others are weekly staples.  Some of our close knit crew will be graduating and moving on, others will be here to welcome and discover the new life of this community that will come into being next semester, next year.

Know that each of you is a valued and welcome part of what makes this place so special.  Whether it is your first and only visit, or a place that you make as a sacred home, you are a part of us, you are connected to us and to God in community and Christ.

Many thanks to all of my helpers and assistants this year:

Seminarians: The Rev. Hank Tuell, and Anne Marie Witchger

Communications Assistants: Abby Page, Sarah Phillips and Jessica Floyd

Ministry Companion: Pastor Becca Seely, The Vine NYC

And to Grace Church, especially The Rev. Chase Danford for housing this ministry.

It is my deepest joy to be a companion to you in so many ways on this part of your journey.

Thanks be to God for you! Thanks be to God for Canterbury Downtown!

–Chaplain Mary Cat
